Letter Production

"Produce Letters" allows you to select a letter pack (or letter template) and a printer pool, and to initiate a letter production run.

You can optionally create an "extract file" instead of a printed letter.

A letter pack can contain more than one letter type (template).

Letter production takes unsent letter requests, creates the necessary datasets (tables), merges these with the letter templates, and sends each letter to its addressee.

The production process must be told what letter types to process and how they are to be output. TalisServer controls the merging of the dataset with the HTML version of the merge document on the letter template and delivers (sends) the data to the printer pool.

Letters can also be printed by location, where the location is a location of Servicing Agent outlet (or Initial Broker if Servicing Agent is not available).  This only applies when letters are printed for all policies and clients not a specific client/account.

Note:

• The printer(s) you want to print to must already be allocated to a Printer Pool if you want to print to multiple printers.
• If you need the output to be sorted then you must first allocate templates to a letter pack with a sort key. It is only possible to produce letters by using a Letter Pack.
• The "extract file" is only available if you select the "letter template" option. It is not possible to produce an extract file from a "letter pack".
• The system will not allow you to print from a template that has not been flagged as "allow merge".
