The Report Definition Maintenance functionality allows a user to define the report/job parameters and set up scheduling options and storage attributes for all report types and batch processes. Scheduled reports and jobs are run by the TalisServer agent at the scheduled time.
Values for Report and Job parameters set up in Report Definition Maintenance can be input:
At Definition (i.e. the values are entered when setting up the job or report on Report Definition Maintenance)
At Run Time (i.e. the values are entered when subsequently running the report or job from the Sonata Navigator)
As Default (i.e. a default value is entered when setting up the job or report, which can be overwritten when subsequently running the report or job from the Sonata Navigator).
If you are entering a Date at any stage during the setting up or running of a Job or Report, then you must check the default Date allocated by the system and amend it if necessary. Dates may be entered at various stages, including:
In Report Definition/Maintenance,
the Next Run Date when establishing a schedule.
some of the parameters required at Definition (e.g. Start Date or End Date).
When running Reports or Batch Jobs,
entering parameters required at Run Time (e.g. To Date or From Date).
Important Note - Should you inadvertently enter any text into any of these Date fields, then the system will revert to the default date or to the last date entered (if any). You may not realise that this has occurred. However, this could have a significant effect on the outcome of the report or job being defined or run.
A user can enter or modify the file size limit in Report Job Maintenance via providing value (file size limit) in parameter Enter maximum file size (in MBytes). For example, 1024 equals a 1GB limit.
Any reports/jobs scheduled in Report Definition Maintenance cannot be viewed manually; therefore, the only output choices available are:
Store Completed Report – view later via Report Queue History (Common > System Administration > Report & Job Defining) or Report Queue Manager (Common > System Administration) once the process/report has completed.
Print Completed Report – then choose a printer.
